Graduate Students:

We are currently looking for highly motivated graduate students that are ready to pursue independent research projects in the areas of animal behavior, chemical ecology, microbiology and neurobiology using primarily insect species within the genus Drosophila as a model system. If you are interested in joining us, please email us with a CV and a short statement (~1 page) highlighting why you are interested in our laboratory and our research, as well as listing your previous research experience, and why you want to attend graduate school within the School of Biological Sciences at UNL.

Postdocs:

Are you interested in using tools from neurobiology, molecular biology, and insect physiology to understand how organisms navigate their environment and optimize their sensory systems? We are looking for a motivated postdoc with skills in neurobiology (e.g. confocal microscopy, single cell electrophysiology) and/or molecular techniques to examine neural connectivity underlying behavioral decision-making, the emergence of divergent phenotypes, the microbiome, and the ecological, evolutionary and developmental frameworks that are shared across many animals species.

(1) We are especially interested in working with you to write an NSF Rules of Life Postdoctoral Fellowship (https://www.nsf.gov/funding/pgm_summ.jsp?pims_id=503622) to fund your own independent lines of research in this area, using multiple Drosophila species as a model system.

Interested postdocs should send us an email, and include a CV, brief statement of research interests, as well as an outline of their potential ideas for a proposal.

(2) We also have several opportunities to apply for a 2-year postdoctoral position in the Population Biology Program of Excellence. This is more open for discussion on research topics, and can include other researchers at UNL. More information can be found here:
