ESITO conference in Sardinia, Italy

The European Symposium for Insect Taste and Olfaction (ESITO) was started in 1988 and occurs once every 2 years. This was my first visit to Sardinia, Italy, and the landscape was as awe-inspiring as the invited speaker list. With topics ranging from receptor function to olfactory coding, each area and system of insect chemosensation was represented. It was a smaller conference with less than 100 people, but it was great to be able to attend every presentation, and to get a chance to really interact in person with some of the great minds from our tight-knit field of scientists.

In addition to the seminars and poster sessions, we also had evenings with fresh seafood and the time to explore the neighboring islands and marine life. This will definitely be one of the most memorable conferences that I have ever attended!
